Basav Ray Chaudhuri
Experience shapes perspective
I spent the first three decades of my career in business, working across finance, general management, strategy and transformation. Much of that time was with SLB (formerly Schlumberger), where an international career took me across Europe and Asia, from functional leadership to running a business and leading organisational change.
Along the way, I experienced many of the realities that come with leadership: stepping into unfamiliar roles, making decisions with incomplete information, leading across cultures, building teams, managing through change — and occasionally getting things wrong.
What stayed with me most was an interest in people: how they think, how they grow, and how the quality of leadership can change both businesses and the experience of those who work in them.
From leading to working with leaders
Since 2017, I have worked as an executive coach and leadership partner to more than 500 leaders across a range of industries and geographies — from senior executives and leadership teams in multinational organisations to founders/business owners.
The situations vary, but often involve a point at which established ways of working or thinking no longer quite fit: a bigger role, a business entering a new stage of growth, a team that needs to change, or a professional or personal transition that prompts someone to reconsider what comes next.
How I work
My approach is conversational rather than formulaic. I listen, ask questions, challenge and offer a perspective — helping people step back from the immediate, test assumptions, recognise patterns, consider alternatives and sometimes confront what has been left unsaid.
The aim isn't to make decisions for people. It is to help them think more clearly and make better decisions for themselves.
